You’re bleeding? We need to go to a hospital!” I said aloud, to the driver more than Alex.
The pain Alex was feeling showed on his face. With his eyes closed and his face drawn, he shook his head. “No, love, Redmond will be here shortly to help me. Let’s just go,” Alex replied, trying to conceal his pain.
I leaned forward and told the driver the name of the hotel Alex and I had stayed in when we first arrived, and we drove off. I began to wonder if my numerous hugs and jumping on him had opened up a fresh wound. I checked my clothes, finding no blood on me.
“I’m sorry, Alex, it’s my fault for squeezing you so tight when I saw you,” I said. While I watched, more blood stained the white shirt.
“Don’t worry, love, I will heal soon enough, and no, your hug was just what I needed.”
He remained calm through the whole ride to the hotel, which helped keep me calm. I was able to check us in with a weak Alex by my side. Once in the room, his jacket came off and he unbuttoned his shirt to reveal a mark that resembled bites on his chest, right where his heart was.
“Are you sure you don’t need a doctor?” I asked worriedly as I looked at the horrifying marks.
“No,” he said as his cell phone rang with Redmond on the other end. He gave him the name of the hotel and hung up shortly after.
I sat with Alex, worried as he came in and out of consciousness. His heartbeat was so faint that I couldn’t even see him breathe. I tried talking to him and he would mumble a word or two back to me.
I took Alex’s hand in mine to comfort him. I noticed that he was clammy and his skin was paler than usual. The thought that he was dying ran through my head. I can’t lose him now; he just came back to me. I wanted to do more but my aversion to the sight of blood prevented me. So I sat cradling his hand in mine, wiping the beads of sweat that lay on his forehead. That’s when I realized it didn’t matter that he left me; it mattered that he came back to me. I kissed his head as love thoughts entered my mind. When someone knocked on the door, I rushed to answer it and found Redmond standing there. Thank goodness.
“Thank God, it’s you, Redmond! Can you please help him? I think he’s dying!” I blurted out frantically as Redmond walked in with only a small bag for luggage.
“I will,” Redmond said as he went into the bedroom where Alex was and closed the door.
I was not surprised that Redmond was as secretive as Alex; they were very private people.
I paced outside the door for a moment before I made my way into the living area of the suite and called for room service. I ordered some food that I knew Alex would like. I was in the middle of the call when another knock came on the door.”

I have dreams of seeing my brother again. He passed away in 2010 from suicide and i dream alot about him since.. Sometimes good and sometimes not so good.. I replay the night over and over again in my head and it drives me nuts .. But we cannot control our dreams so there is really nothing i can do about it…

Jodi, I am so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you.
Nice dreams of those we have lost can be comforting but disturbing dreams can be very difficult. Do you have any family or close friends you could talk to about your brother? Have you spoken to your family physician about your brother’s death? Maybe a referral to someone who specializes in grief counselling would be helpful for you, especially because of the circumstances surrounding your brothers death.
Please keep in touch Jodi and let me know how you are doing.
      Thinking of you,
      Monica

Thanks so much Monica… Means alot that you would take time to reply to my comment.. I do go to a grief counseling group on Thursday’s.. I aslo do the suicide prevention walk every year in our area since my brother’s passing. I think it’s just hard because i was the last one to talk to him that night, and suicide was just not something that i really ever thought about. Since his, i have heard of so many and it seems to be alot more common then expected. It’s just so sad that people think that it’s even an option .. I will continue to fight and raise money for awareness .. I would never wish any family to suffer a loss of that sort. I will keep you updated.. Once again thanks a bunch ..

If you mean dreams while I’m sleeping – if I do, I don’t remember them. I remember a few when I was little though about bears chasing me and my Grandpa. I’m not sure if the dream meant anything.
If you mean real life dreams – I dream of owning my own business and travelling to many destinations (Egypt, England, Italy, Caribbean etc).

    • Monica says:

Nancy, I have the same ‘real life” dream as you…own my own business and constant travel to fabulous locations!!

  3. Auqakuh says:

Often as a teen I would have lucid dreams in which I could control a flying ability I had, see myself clearly in mirrors or any reflective surfaces – all the while knowing that I was dreaming. If the dream started to get scary, all I had to do was find a hidden place to crawl into, close my eyes and I’d awake in real life. It was pretty freaky. Doesn’t happen at all anymore, though.

    • Monica says:

Wow, what great dreams Auqakuh…I have only dreamt I was flying once, but I really loved the feeling! My sister is always dreaming she is flying!

  4. Serena Powell says:

I want to be able to join the Peace Corps one day. I love volunteering. If I didn’t have to have money to live off, I would just volunteer for a living. Having people be greatful for work you have done is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

  5. Monica says:

Serena, what a beautiful dream, I hope it someday comes true for you and the lucky people you will be helping.

  6. Amy Bailey says:

I often dream about being able to fly in a beautiful fantasy land. :) It’s my fav dream :)
