I was recently on David Suzuki’s website and came across this great information, thought I would share.
Farmed Oysters – Ask for: Oysters farmed worldwide in suspended culture systems.
Swordfish – Ask for: Swordfish caught in Canada or the U.S. by harpoon or with a handline (as opposed to longline).
Sardines – Ask for: Sardines caught in Canada and the U.S. Pacific by purse seine.
Albacore Tuna – Ask for: Tuna caught in Canada and U.S. Pacific by troll/pole (as
opposed to longline).
Closed Containment Farmed Salmon – Ask for: Farmed salmon raised in the U.S. using closed containment systems.
Sablefish – Ask for: Sablefish caught in the Canadian Pacific or Alaska using trap and bottom longline.
Pacific Cod – Ask for: Cod caught in Alaska by bottom longline, jig or trap.
Farmed Clams – Ask for: Clams farmed worldwide, or wild, handraked ones from the U.S.
Dungeness Crab – Ask for: Dungeness crab trap-caught in Canada, California, Oregon and Washington.
Spot Prawns – Ask for: Spot prawns caught in the Canadian Pacific by trap.

eI was very interested in the post on David Suzuki’s top ten substainable seafood picks. The ones I liked best for me were the Albacore Tuna and the Sardines. It is important to be aware of these things when buying fish.-el03ro

I love David Suzuki and have watched him on TV for years! I was recently watching a program about Sustainable Seafood and just how important it is for the Seafood supply. I like how specific the list above is about exactly what to ask for to ensure you are doing your part regarding sustainability. Thanks for the info!
