Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies ~ I have had this recipe for what seems like forever! I think I got it from my mom, but I am not sure where she discovered it or its initial origin. I do remember when we were kids we often had pudding for dessert. Because of the somewhat unusual addition of a pudding mix to these cookies, I suspect the recipe may have come from a pudding company. Perhaps, at one time it was written on the package itself or found in a magazine or product insert.
I have made these since I was 12 or 13, they are easy to make, moist, chewy and unbelievably delicious. Coincidentally, or probably not so coincidentally…as they both came from my mom, I also have a recipe for Pudding Oatmeal Cookies which are equally delicious. I will make them soon and share that recipe with you as well.
Over the years I have tried many other Chocolate Chip Cookie recipes, while some of them have been very good, in my mind, none have never measured up to this recipe.
In the recipe below you will see the option to substitute chocolate pudding mix for the vanilla. I urge you to try this version as well, they are a double dose of chocolate delightfulness!
- 2¼ cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup white sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 package vanilla INSTANT pudding, 4 servings size*
- 2 eggs
- 1 bag pure semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Combine flour and baking soda; set aside.
- In a large bowl beat butter, both sugars, vanilla and pudding powder until mixture is fluffy and creamy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually stir in flour mixture, stir well to combine.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop by heaping teaspoon full onto parchment lined cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees F. for approximately 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown.
- Do not over bake!
- * May substitute chocolate pudding mix for vanilla mix.
I hope you enjoy this recipe and as always, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Good question JoJo, it makes about 3-4 dozen, depending on how large you scoop them.
