Yummy Christmas Recipes ~ Christmas Morning "Husband" Saver ~

We make this every Christmas Eve and pop it in the fridge.  In the morning you just add the crumb mixture and bake.  Serve with fresh cut up fruit and hot cinnamon rolls, the perfect Christmas morning breakfast!
This recipe was originally called Christmas Morning “Wife” Saver.   Well, in our house my husband always made the big Christmas breakfast so I felt it was only fitting to rename it!!

Christmas Morning “Husband” Saver

18-20 slices bread, crusts removed
Cooked ham slices or cooked sausage meat
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
6 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
3/4 Tbsp
1/4 cup finely minced onion
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 cups milk
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 cups corn flakes, crushed

Line the bottom of a 9×13 inch buttered glass baking dish with half the bread, covering bottom completely.  Cover bread with meat, sprinkle cheese over meat and then cover cheese with remaining bread to form a big “sandwich”.

In a large bowl whisk eggs, salt, pepper, mustard, onion, Worcestershire sauce and milk.  pour over ‘sandwich”.  Cover baking dish with plastic wrap and place in fridge overnight.  In the morning mix crushed corn flakes and melted butter together.  Sprinkle over top of the ”sandwich”.  Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F. for 1 hour.

Hope you enjoy!
