~ CLOSED ~ Celebrate Earth Day with “Plant for the Planet” & a huge BBC {#Giveaway}!!

Plant for the Planet – Pop Bottle Planter

Did you know that the air inside can be just as dirty as the air outside? Furnaces, air conditioners, dust, dirt, pet fur and dander and sometimes the things we use to clean can make the air we breathe inside not very healthy.

Just like the trees outside, plants inside do a lot for the environment. They absorb carbon dioxide (C02), which is a greenhouse gas, and give off oxygen. Ever visit a greenhouse where they grow a lot of different kinds of plants? Have you noticed the wonderful smells and how good you feel in there?

Growing plants is a great Act for the Planet as you can actually help clean the air inside!

This is an easy and fun activity for the entire family!

Here are the directions and be sure to register your Act for the Planet here.

I’ve also attached this simple step by step (4 min.) video which explains how to easily make your Pop Bottle Planter.

Extra action you can take –  1.  Once your plant has started to grow, think about moving it outside to be a pollinator garden.  2.  Make more! Give one to your friends or family as birthday gifts.  3.  Experiment with different bottle sizes and different plants.

To help us celebrate Earth Day the wonderful people at BBC Home Entertainment have offered you the opportunity to win some fabulous Earth Day themed prizes!

First is the BBC’s blockbuster Planet Earth series which has been re-released in a limited edition that takes advantage of advances in high definition technology since its original release in 2007, and the result is magnificent.  This collector’s edition comes in a handsome globe-shaped package.

Second is Frozen Planet!  The Arctic and Antarctic remain the greatest wildernesses on Earth. The scale and beauty of the scenery and the sheer power of the elements are unmatched anywhere else on our planet. And these vast, frigid landscapes are surprising rich with life. Frozen Planet captures unimaginable imagery above and below the ice and follows the extraordinary fluctuations that accompany the changes of seasons. Frozen Planet will open your eyes to the remarkable colors and variety of life in this truly unique environment.

Check out this amazing trailer for Frozen Planet.

Prize may not be exactly as depicted in image.

And lastly,  but certainly not least,  is the classic, The Blue Planet!  This definitive natural history of the world’s oceans covers everything from popular shores and teeming shallows to the mysterious open depths. Two-thirds of the planet is covered by the oceans and yet they remain largely unexplored and certainly under-filmed. The TV series Blue Planet changes all that and subsequently changes our views of the deep.

And…if all of these wonderful offerings weren’t enought, there is one more!

Until July, BBC is offering you the opportunity to win The Ultimate Polar Bear Adventure in beautiful Manitoba, Canada!  To learn more and to enter visit Frozen Planet.
