~ CLOSED ~ “What Children Need to Learn to READ” {book & companion CD} Review & Giveaway

If you are a parent of a newborn right through to an early school aged child, What Children Need to Learn to READ – Birth through the Early Grades Edition by Michelle Vallene,  is the book for you.

As parents, we strive to give our children every opportunity for happiness and success in their future lives. We desire not only to ensure literacy and school readiness, but also, a lifelong love of reading.  Furthermore, with all the advances in technology, today more than ever, we recognize the ability to read as an integral part of our daily lives.

Remember, your child’s first reading teacher is … YOU!  What Children Need to Learn to READ, is the ultimate resource for parents and other adults who want to encourage literacy in young children. Packed with age-appropriate tips, techniques, fun activities, checklists, and common-sense suggestions, this one-of-a-kind book will answer your questions, boost your confidence, and prepare you for one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do!

You’ll learn:

  • What works best for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary school students.
  • How to make reading a FUN and familiar part of everyday life.
  • Where to find the best children’s books, magazines, games, websites, and more.

What Children Need to Learn to READ,  is a wonderful education tool.  It is laid out in a simple way which makes it easy read, and it’s filled with wonderful ideas and lots of resources.  I would also recommend visiting the Learners Lane website, you’ll find products, downloads, fun activities for kids, parent/teacher resources and a blog.

Along with the book I also received the companion, What Children Need to Learn to READ, Songs & Rhymes CD.

It features all the songs and rhymes that appear in her book. It is a great collection that kids can easily sing along to.  As they are singing along, they are learning skills that will help them learn to read in an easy, fun way.  They are learning rhyming, patterns and phonetic skills which have been proven to make children better readers.
