~ CLOSED ~ Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Courage {Review & Giveaway}

I was recently given the opportunity to read and review the children’s book, Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Courage.  It is wonderfully written by Howard Binkow and Reverend Ana and beautifully illustrated by Jeremy Norton; it is the newest book in the Howard B. Wigglebottom series.

I’m familiar with the wonderful and free online animated series, and maybe I’m being old school, but let’s face it, there is something extra special and very cozy about cuddling up with the kids at bedtime, to read a great book!

Like all the books in the Howard B. Wigglebottom series, this is a fabulous book for children. The illustrations are vibrant and fun and this book introduces 4-8 year olds to concepts and discussion opportunities, such as:

  • It is very normal and healthy to feel fear
  • There are two basic kinds of fear—the real and the make-believe
  • What are the things we should fear?
  • What fears do you have?
  • “It is OK to be afraid”
  • Can you be brave too? Yes!

At the back of the book,  parents and teachers will find helpful tips and lesson plans to educate young readers.

The We Do Listen Foundation is a non-profit organization that creates entertaining, educational books and songs to help young children be better listeners, learn important life lessons and feel better about themselves. The website offers free animated versions of the books, plus colour & print pages, lessons/posters, and songs as well as many other teaching and parenting resources. 1. What a cute book! I don’t remember being afraid of monsters under the bed or in the closet when I was little. The thing that scared me was the moving eyes in a painting thing that was so popular on Scooby Doo and other shows of the 60s and 70s.
