The Hallmark Get Carded Challenge ~ I really love technology, just ask my husband or kids! When I think back twenty or thirty years I am astounded by the changes modern technology has made to our lives. Mostly good changes…and arguably, some maybe not so good!
Many of us now seem to spend our waking lives glued to our laptops and iPhones; we’re checking our “virtual” mail, Facebook, Blogs, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+ and the list continues. The only things that seem to come in the “actual” mail are the odd bill that we forgot to set up online and advertisements!
I miss the days when you would receive cards and letters in the mail. I may be a kid at heart, but I still get a little excited when I pick up the mail to find an actual card or letter addressed to me!
No matter how much we rely upon technology to keep in touch with our friends and family, few things compare with the feeling of receiving an unexpected card and handwritten note. It doesn’t have to be a message in the bottle or lengthy love letter – it can be a simple “hello,” “I miss you” or “remember when…” What matters is you – the giver of a surprise delivery!
Over the years customers have shared just how good it feels to give and receive handwritten cards. Therefore, Hallmark is excited to bring back the to help bloggers connect with loved ones this year.
The Challenge ~ Send 7 cards in 7 days to 7 special people in your life. Tell them how much they mean, how much you miss them, how you’ll never forget that time…
When I received my Get Carded Challenge package I opened it immediately; I couldn’t wait to look through all the beautiful cards that I knew would be waiting! Hallmark sent me a nice selection; there were traditional cards with beautiful messages, cute cards for kids and some gorgeous cards from the Hallmark Signature Collection!
I have already sent off a couple of the cards and it’s such fun to picture the surprise on the recipients face when they check their mail and find a beautiful card!
I guess I have always known, but this challenge has reinforced just how much a simple gesture can mean to someone. I have also decided that, throughout the year I am going to continue on with this challenge, and periodically, for no specific reason I am going to send someone a beautiful Hallmark card, just because!
If you are a blogger and would like to participate in the Get Carded Challenge, you can find all the information at .

I find that I buy way less cards because they are just too expensive. I’m not real happy shelling out $4 or $5 for a card that’s going to get thrown away. I just don’t have that kind of money to waste. And the .99 options usually aren’t that good. I will make cards for super special people, but if they are on Facebook, I just write on their timelines and they write on mine.

I still send cards all the time – birthday, get well, thinking of you, etc. Hallmark has some wonderful cards thanks to their contest where people submitted photos. People love getting mail that isn’t junk or bills. I especially love sending cards to the kids in my life – and including stickers. Kids love getting their own mail.
