On a recent trip to Fundy National Park we checked out the yurts that are available to campers. On our next camping trip, I would love to stay in one of these unique shelters.
The exterior of two of the 7 or 8 yurts available.
The inside of one of the yurts, excuse the quality, I snapped these photos through one of the Yurt’s windows!
This is the view from a couple of the yurts. (In this photo, the tide is on its way back in.)
I certainly have no problem picturing myself sitting in one of the Muskoka chairs on the deck, sipping a glass of wine, and watching the tide…lol!
Have you ever stayed in a yurt?
Do they have bathrooms? I’d stay in one if it did. What’s a Muskoka chair? Is it what we call Adirondack chairs? I have a blog/FB friend who used to live on the Muskoka River but she just moved to Alberta.
No bathrooms JoJo, but they are fairly close by! The Muskoka chairs are pretty close to an Adirondack chair, I think there is a slight difference but I have no idea what that may be ;-)
The yurts look so cool! That would make for such a fun experience. They kind of remind me of the shelters the dwarfs from Snow White would stay in.
Exactly Nicole, Snow White would love these yurts!
Funny thing – we were just looking into Yurts at Parks Canada on the Bruce Peninsula last week. I need my own bathroom though. lol!
Yeah, that is a bit of a downside Pam, but I am super excited for the heat. It can get mighty chilly on the Bay Of Fundy!
I haven’t stayed in a yurt but I have stayed in a Canadian Habitat (very similar ) at Jellystone Park Toronto about 9 years ago!
Oh that sounds like fun Jenn, it’s nice to have a roof over your head and some place to spread out if the weather isn’t great.
we are staying in a yurt for the first time in a couple weeks! I dont think ours has heat though!
Fun, I hope you write up a post, I would love to hear how it went Jennifer!
Those look really neat!!
They do look neat and even a bit high end compared to the “rustic shelter” that we often stay in.
Ohhh! Your photos totally make me want to go there! So beautiful!
It is a very beautiful place Christine!
I just spied a similar picture on Wondermoms about her family staying in a yurt and I was like holy smokes my kids would love that. I think the one you have shown here looks pretty slick actually for a yurt. Love this idea! I actually can’t wait to stay in a yurt.
I know Paula, I definitely want to stay in a yurt too!
A few years ago I did a work retreat on Bowen Island in a yurt. Only for the day though, we didn’t stay overnight. So much cooler than a tent or a cabin – and so much fun to say! YURT!
lol..yeah I think I like the word yurt too, so much more glamorous a word than rustic shelter!
Lovely photos I wouldn’t mind staying in one they look fun although I do find the word yurts funny LOL
Have a yurtastic week ;-)
Yurt is a bit of a funny name isn’t it Steve!
How interesting.
They look pretty cool Robin.
I do agree those are pretty cool looking! Love the picture of the tides. Beautiful!
Thanks Tammy, I could sit and watch the water all day!
I have never even heard of a Yurt, but I like it!!
Don’t they look like a fun place to stay Rosey, and a great alternative to a tent!
What a wonderful idea! I have never heard of the word”yurt”, but would love to stay in one. The view is fantastic!! Thanks for sharing.
OK Pat, next year let’s stay in a yurt!
WOW! Those look real neat
Aren’t they cool Miranda, I so want to stay in one!
Those look awesome. I think I could even convince my wife to go camping again if she could stay in one of those!
Aren’t they the perfect blend of camping and amenities Justin!
The yurts are cute, but I LOVE that beach shot. Oh how I wish I was there!
Fundy National Park is a pretty fabulous place Freda, if you are ever in NB, try to check it out!
I’ve been through N.B driving to N.S. but didn’t take in the sights. I’ll be sure to keep this park in mind for our next trip down east. Thanks Monica!!
I have never heard of them. Love the “Yurt”cottages as they are really unique. Very popular summer family destination from what I have been reading other blogs.
I have been to Fundy Park numerous times Lyne and love it more on each visit!
I have always wanted to try out a yurt! especially after our camping fiasco a couple weeks ago!!!

lol…we have had a few fiascos in the past too but always keep going back for more, so I guess I must love it!
I want to stay in a Yurt just so I can say it… it’s a fun word :)
I love it too Heather…it is such a fun word!!
I love these! I would totally stay in one of those!
I feel they must be the best of both worlds, camping, but with amenities!
