Officially, September is #ChildhoodCancer Awareness Month, but the illness is a concern that lasts year-round and beyond. Childhood cancer remains one of the leading causes of death for adolescent children, and hundreds of new children are diagnosed with a type of the cancer every year.
You can help fight in a variety of ways; if your family is affected, there are numerous resources available to you.

YOUR IMPACT
- emPower Packs - Each year, 1500 children are diagnosed with cancer in Canada. It is an overwhelming burden on the child and their family. Childhood Cancer Canada wants to send an emPower Pack to every family in Canada whose child is newly diagnosed with cancer.
- Childhood Cancer Canada’s Survivor Scholarship Program - this program has grown significantly in the last couple of years. In 2013, more than $242,000 in Survivor and TEVA Canada Scholarships was awarded nationwide, the most in the organization’s history.

National Research Initiatives - The C17 Network, through funding provided by Childhood Cancer Canada, wants to ensure that all childhood cancer treatment locations in Canada and their patients reap the dividends of more intensive research and cutting-edge therapies.
- Benevolent Fund – Childhood Cancer Canada, through its Benevolent Fund, steps in to help financially struggling families in their time of need.
- Get Involved - donate to the foundation, hold your own fundraising event, sponsor a participant, become a corporate sponsor, volunteer, spread the word.
GET HELP AND SUPPORT
Get help and support for victory with the many services and programs that support children and their families battling childhood cancer.
- emPower Pack – this pack provides families with information, organization and inspiration to cope with what comes next.
- Diagnosis in the Family – links to resources available that will give you a good start on information gathering and on making the contacts you will need for networking and emotional support.
- Survivor Scholarship Program – The Childhood Cancer Canada’s Scholarship Program is open to young adult cancer survivors who are residents, and currently residing in Canada.
- Teen Connector – Childhood Cancer Canada has created a confidential social hub where teens with cancer can connect with their peers and with young mentors, young childhood cancer survivors, who had cancer as teens.
- Benevolent Fund - Some families whose children die do not have the resources to provide for a burial for their child. Childhood Cancer Canada, through its Benevolent Fund steps in to help financially struggling families in their time of need by assisting with the costs of the funeral service of their child.
- A.L.L. Documentary - This video is designed to help families understand the disease Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and its treatment.
