Like many of you, the kitchen is the heart of our home. This is the place where our family spends the majority of our time. It is where we congregate in the morning and again during the dinner hour to prepare a meal and talk about our day. The kitchen is where we eat breakfast and most dinners. This is where stories, both happy and sad, funny and serious are often recounted. I cannot begin to list how many school projects and homework assignments have been completed at the kitchen table.
If I had to name the most important room in the house, it would definitely be the kitchen. In fact my husband keeps his guitar in the kitchen and together with our son and daughter there have been many an impromptu concert that has happened here as well.
Is our kitchen perfect? No, not at all! It is sadly lacking in cabinet space, the refrigerator opening is way too small for today’s modern appliances, the countertops are laminate and it is closed off from the other common areas in our home.
If I could create my dream kitchen, what would it have? Off the top of my head it would have:
- Open concept
- Granite countertops
- Double dishwashers
- An island with seating
- A huge refrigerator
- A walk in pantry
- Loads of cabinets
- Fireplace

Oh, I could so use a complete make-over in the tiny little space that I call a kitchen. I agree that the kitchen is the hub of the home. I would expand the room and have lots of counter space!
It seems like no matter how much space you have in your kitchen, it’s never enough! A kitchen reno is high on my wish list.
I would LOVE a kitchen makeover. We don’t have a dishwasher (boo!) so I don’t buy finish (boo again). Whoever wins is going to be a lucky duck!

Overall I like my kitchen. It’s smallish but we recently redid it and made the most of it with the space we have. BUT I too would love a huge fridge and there is just no way to make that happen in my kitchen :(
