Monica,
I am from the states and in 2012 I purchased a home in Summerville Centre, Nova Scotia. In my search for property I always stayed in either Lanes Privateer Inn in Liverpool or the Quarterdeck in Summerville. I fell in love with this area of Canada instantly as well as the people who live there. Included on my list of things that attracted me to Atlantic Canada is the breakfast at Lanes Privateer Inn which offered molasses brown bread toast. I never tasted toast that was so tasty that I craved it every morning especially with haddock cakes and poached eggs. I have searched out recipes for years and just stumbled across yours and can’t wait to make it this weekend. I just returned two days ago from my home in Canada so this is perfect timing. I am a chef myself and really enjoy the cuisines of Atlantic Canada.
Thanks for sharing this recipe
Charles
Hi Charles,
Even though I live in New Brunswick, I have visited Nova Scotia many, many, times. I agree it is a beautiful place the scenery is breathtaking and everyone is so friendly! I hope you like this recipe, it is a favourite of ours. We often have it with baked beans, plain or toasted. I am going to try it with haddock cakes and poached eggs, sounds yummy!
Thanks so much for all your kind words,
Monica
