My Visit to a PC Cooking School is part three of my #GuidingStarsCA, four-part series. Part one invited you to, Follow My Journey with the Loblaws #GuidingStarsCA #PCStars Program and part two featured my, #GuidingStarsCA Follow-Up & My Meeting with a Registered Dietitian.
As I mentioned in my last post, my Personal Level is 4 out of 5 (I started at Level 3). However, I am determined that by using the resources available at my local Loblaws and by following the PC #GuidingStarsCA program, I will soon reach a Personal Level 5.
One of the resources that is widely available is the PC Cooking School.
Each time I leave the checkout of our local Atlantic Superstore (Loblaws), I see signs advertising the PC Cooking School. I love to cook, so I invariably stop to read about the upcoming classes. They always sound so wonderful and I have often commented that I was going to sign up for a class.
Not sure if the classes are the same everywhere, but at our store, right now they are offering a “What’s For Dinner” cooking series. These classes take place every Friday from noon until 1PM.
Check out this BONUS! The “What’s For Dinner?” cooking demonstration costs $10.00 to register, but the great news is, at the end of the class, you will receive a $10.00 President’s Choice gift card to spend in the stores! Plus you’ll pick up great tips on following the Guiding Stars program as you watch the chef in action. You will also receive the recipe, grocery list and of course, your $10 PC gift card!
I couldn’t pass up this opportunity, so I signed up for a noon hour class. The class I selected was a demonstration on how to make a healthy Roasted Fennel and White Bean Dip. I have never cooked with fennel, so this class really appealed to me.
The class was amazing! The room was all set up, complete with recipes, placemats, cutlery, napkins and water for each attendee. We were also offered coffee or tea. All we had to do was sit down at a place setting and follow along as Chef Wendy Scott skillfully took us through the recipe not only for the Roasted Fennel and White Bean Dip but also for two other dips; Artichoke and Spinach Relish with Walnuts and Creamy Salmon spread with Horseradish.

Everything looks so delicious! My Loblaws doesn’t have a cooking space, but like you, I’ve seen ads for classes for-evah and have always wanted to go. And I finally signed up! Sooo looking forward to the Fun with Phyllo class in a few weeks. (Something tells me we’ll be eating *very* well.)
