Grateful for Poise and Fundy National Park

I am very fortunate to live within driving distance of gorgeous Fundy National Park. If you are unfamiliar with it, Fundy National Park is located in New Brunswick on Canada’s Atlantic Coast.

Poise

It features 20 kilometres of dramatic shoreline along the Bay of Fundy, which is famous for having the world’s highest tides. The Park also has multiple well-equipped campgrounds, a solar-heated saltwater swimming pool, kayaking and canoeing opportunities, a nine-hole golf course and the reason that we visited it a couple of weeks ago, more than 100 kilometers of hiking and biking trails!

As a family, we try to visit the park as often as we can. When possible, we take part in one of the most popular activities in Fundy and a personal favourite of mine…hiking.  Of the nearly 30 trails, we have hiked 18 of them; several of them more than once!

As a woman who experiences bladder leakage, you may think being out in nature and hiking rugged trails would hinder me, but that’s just not true.  I still try new adventures and continue doing absolutely everything I love.  I refuse to let something like leaks stand in my way and you can too!

Here is an interesting statistic —

Did you know, one in four Canadian women* experience bladder leakage at some points in their lives? And of these, almost half (49%) suffer from stress urinary incontinence (SUI)** which can be triggered by everyday occurrences like coughing, sneezing, laughing, lifting or even exercise?

Even though 25% of women experience leakage, very few of us talk about it!  It’s time to open up the conversations and let others know they are not alone. Bladder leakage is a part of everyday life for so many of us.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Seize Your Poise® Moment, I sometimes experience Light Bladder Leakage (LBL) and/or Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI).  Without the proper bladder leakage protection, activities such as hiking, would not be possible for me and many other women because of fear of leaks, which can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing.

If you experience light bladder leakage, please don’t let it hinder you from doing everything you love. With the correct products, you can very easily continue living the full life we all deserve!

Poise

I made a conscious decision a long time ago that I was never going to ever allow possible bladder leakage to dictate what I can and cannot do in my life. I called it “Seizing My Poise® Moment”!  It was the moment when I realized that with the correct tools, which are products specifically made for bladder leakage (not periods), I did not have to miss out on anything. I could continue to take part in all the fun adventures that the world has to offer.

I am so grateful that I discovered Poise® products and to be an Ambassador for the brand.  Without them and the confidence they give me (especially with my coughing and sneezing during this allergy season) I would have missed out on so many fun, family times, which is why I want to share this post with you!

I’m a nurse and have seen it all, so nothing medical embarrasses or fazes me.  However, I have also been around long enough to know not everyone feels that way.  And that last statement is exactly why I am sharing my story with you.

I really like the wide variety of products offered by Poise®.  You can choose which of the products are right for you, ranging from liners to pads to Impressa® — I have used all of them at various times, depending on the circumstance.

I find the microliners, which are discreet and not at all bulky, perfect for feeling confident and protected when wearing shorts or tighter fitting skirts or pants. The ultra-thin pads are what I often wear at night, I just put one on and never have to worry about leaks. The Impressa® Bladder Support is perfect for swimming and long hikes.  I just insert it, forget about it and know I am protected for up to 12-hours.

You will easily figure out what’s best for you too.  Try all the Poise products and see what works best for you and your specific situation.

Poise® Pads and Liners:

  • Poise pads are specifically designed for LBL and stay up to 3X drier than leading period-only maxis.
  • Poise® pads provide 3-in-1 protection for dryness, comfort, and odour control.

Poise® Impressa®:

Both as a nurse and as a woman, I feel the Poise® Impressa® is a revolutionary product! It works by actually placing pressure on the urethra to help stop unexpected leaks.

Until recently, women had little choice but to absorb their leaks with pads, absorbent briefs or resort to invasive surgery.

With Poise® Impressa® all that has changed. It’s easy to insert and remove (just like a normal tampon), comfortable to wear and you can leave it in for up to 12 hours in any 24-hour period.

Now women can comfortably and discreetly stop leaks and regain their sense of freedom to live active, fulfilling lives.

Thanks to my confidence in Poise products I was able to enjoy a worry-free, wonderful day of hiking with my family. We hiked the Matthews Head and Dickson Falls trails and then went to Bennett Lake for some kayaking/canoeing and supper. It was an amazing family day and I am so grateful to have been able to thoroughly enjoy it!

Comments

  1. Fundy National Park looks amazing, I’ve always dreamed of visiting the east coast! After having two kids sometimes sneezing is dangerous and jumping on the trampoline is challenging without a little LBL.

  2. Age and child birth contribute to LBL and I qualify on both counts. Thank goodness for products like Poise.
