Busting the Stigma Around Embarrassing Problems ~ I’m an older nurse who has probably worked since before many of you were even born. So, trust me when I say, I have heard and seen just about anything and everything medical related. Nothing surprises, shocks or embarrasses me and no subject is off-limits. Just ask my husband and kids!

Add to this the fact I grew up in a family of nurses, including several aunts and both of my sisters. Let me just say, when we all get together…family gatherings are never dull!

Our bodies are complex. They can do incredible things, like heal themselves and tell us when something isn’t quite right. When our bodies are trying to send us a message, it can be uncomfortable, but these symptoms are nothing to be embarrassed about. A change in bodily functions can happen to everyone. Instead of hiding behind them, let’s open up the conversation to learn why our bodies do the things they do and what we can do to deal with them, so we can get back to live our normal lives.

Here are three very common bodily issues we might face, and how to deal with them:

BUSTING THE STIGMA AROUND EMBARRASSING PROBLEMS

CONSTIPATION

Constipation is uncomfortable, but it happens to the best of us. Stress, dehydration and lack of exercise are just a few of the many causes. Making simple changes in your daily routine can help prevent constipation. Try setting an alarm to remind you to drink water or take a few minutes each day to de-stress and exercise (go for a short walk to clear your mind or dance around your kitchen like no one is watching!). If you experience occasional constipation, a laxative may be a good option for you. RestoraLAX is an effective option that works with water to hydrate and soften stools and helps to restore your body’s natural rhythm, with no taste or grit! Add it to hot, cold, or room temperature everyday beverage and you’ll be moving again in no time.

YEAST INFECTIONS

Yeast infections are a common vaginal infection. 75 per cent of women will experience it at least once in their lives. There are a few things we can do to help prevent a yeast infection, including changing underwear after working out, avoiding tight clothing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If you do have a yeast infection, there are options for treatment, and your infection can be dealt with a convenient, 1 dose treatment!  CanesOral is an effective single does oral treatment for vaginal yeast infections. The Combi-Pak format includes an external cream for fast relief of external itching and burning. Yeast infections aren’t fun…but symptom relief that starts within 24 hours will have you smiling in no time.

BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) may sound alarming, but it’s another vaginal infection that is treatable and very common. In fact, BV is the most common cause of vaginal infections in women of childbearing age. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about ladies! BV is a bacterial infection that happens when there is an imbalance of your pH, which can promote the growth of ‘bad’ bacteria. Treating BV symptoms is easy with CanesBalance®. The triple benefit gel formula comes in hygienic squeeze tubes for easy application and restores normal vaginal pH, while relieving uncomfortable symptoms such as unusual odour and discharge.

It’s important to listen to our bodies, learn about the symptoms we’re experiencing and understand how to treat them. I find it helpful talking to my close friends about these things because most of the time, they’re able to share helpful tips for treatment, so I can get back to being the best version of myself!

  1. My best tip is drink lots of water! I find that when I get out of the habit I run into all kinds of issues from stomach pains to yeast infections. Not fun. Thanks for sharing the info about CanesBalance, I think it might be just what I need!

  2. I have dealt with every single one of these issues. I’m glad you are writing about it because they are normal parts of being a woman and more common than people like to admit.

  3. Pat Bacon says:

I totally agree with you, Monica, that most people find it uncomfortable talking about these very common ( to women) issues. I think it is great that you are tackling these health problems head on and providing a solution to them.
My tip would be this. Don’t wait, as soon as you are aware of an issue, use these or other products to get relief quickly.

  4. I also agree that tons of water can cure a great deal. I never seem to get enough to drink and I definitely feel horrid when I forget. It is something I really really need to focus on all day every day.

  5. Water is truly essential. I make sure my family consumer as much as possible. My hubby thinks the water that goes in his coffee count towards his daily intake, lol.

  6. No need to be embarrassed at all about these issues. We use several of these products here and I rely on the brands for my family so we don’t have to worry about embarrassing issues. Restoralax has been used here for years just kept on hand for when it is needed.
