Please join me in giving a warm Canadian welcome to “Life without Lemons”.  Originally hailing from the UK and now living in Canada, we are very excited to announce that, Elyse with her fabulous “52  Breads in 2013” will be our weekly guest blogger.  If you are looking for some fabulous bread recipes, drop by each week and see what delicious bread Elyse has baked in her kitchen.

A life without lemons is like swimming in the nude.  You can do it, but it just feels wrong.

A Life Without Lemons is my little blog about food, family and an ongoing love affair with gin and tonic.  I am a wife, mother of two lovely (loud, messy, crazy) boys, trained butcher and passionate cook of all things tasty.  I moved from rainy England to snowy Canada in 2011 and planned to make friends and influence people with food and gin.

In 2013 I have embarked on a baking mission to make 52 different breads.  All of the recipes are from one book- Women’s Institute: Bread.  I have no special tools or fancy equipment.  Just me, my kitchen and a pre heated oven.

Why not come along for the ride and make some bread……….

To start the 52 breads in 2013 Project I wanted to start with a breakfast bread that could be made with ingredients I already had in the cupboard.  I don’t believe that your kitchen has to be stocked like a professional outfit to enjoy baking so the things I cook use everyday items and everyday ingredients.  Baking should be a pleasure not a challenge and the things I cook reflect that.

TASTE TEST: We ate this at breakfast, warm from the oven, sliced thickly with butter and strawberry jam.  We finished it off at lunch, toasted with fat squadges of honey. It was delicious and the only complaints from the family were that it was gone too quickly.

Oh I have a recipe very similiar to this that I use to make on a regular basis and it is yummy! I think I need to get back into baking bread. There is just nothing better than walking into a house that smells like fresh baked bread, well expect for eating said bread.

I know, the aroma of freshly baked bread is so good and I agree the only thing better is the actual eating of the bread!!

I used to make homemade bread and loved it. My son is picky about his bread but I love mine with oats and toasted with some jam. I can’t wait to see the recipes you will share here.
