3 sisters + 1 camping trip = fun, fun, fun {Photos}

My sisters and I recently headed out on a "girls" camping trip.  This was our 4th year and each year we've managed to stay a bit longer...lol.  We had a wonderful time and I thought I would share some photos of our week in a rustic shelter at New River Beach Provincial Park in New Brunswick. {Right about now I can see my sisters cringing and thinking...OMG, I had better not see a picture of myself in a bathing suit...lol...well, they will just have to wait and see!!} … [Read more...]

My sisters and I are heading out on a little "girls" getaway.  This is our 4th year going and each year we've stayed longer...lol.  This year it will be 5 nights and 6 days of 3 sisters + 1 camping trip = fun, fun, fun! Low tide on a foggy morning at New River Beach We're going camping at New River Provincial Park, in New Brunswick.  We have been e-mailing and telephoning each other back and forth over the past few weeks.  We've planned our meals, bought the food (I'm pretty sure we'll … [Read more...]

Deer Guard ~ Do The Deer Think of Your Planters as a Salad Bowl?

Deer Guard ~ Until a couple of days ago, we had some pretty lush looking planters on either side of the garage door...notice my use of the word "had".  The poor deer have come to think of our planters and flower gardens as one big salad bowl.  I don't blame them, massive subdivisions have sprouted up overnight and the deer have nowhere to go.   This is part of the herd, sorry for the winter shot. The deer have been in stealth mode lately, hiding out and having babies! I don't mind … [Read more...]

How to Barbecue a Safe Burger

Many of us will be barbecuing in the upcoming summer months; steaks, chicken, fish, pork and lots of hamburgers.  Did you know, eating undercooked ground beef  may result in a type of food poisoning commonly referred to as hamburger disease? The medical name for hamburger disease is Haemorrhagic Colitis. This disease is a type of food poisoning caused by a bacteria called E.coli 0157:H7. Also known as just E.coli, it can be found in many foods including meat, and especially in ground … [Read more...]

Veggie Burger ~ {Recipe}

Veggie Burger ~ I am not technically a vegetarian, I really don't eat much beef or pork at all, but I do eat fish, poultry and the odd piece of bacon. The rest of my family loves a nicely barbecued burger, but, they are definitely not my thing! I always felt a bit "left out" when I just had salad or whatever other side dish we happened to be having.  So, I decided to do a bit of research and came up with this recipe. If you're looking for a "burger feel" to your veggie burger, this may … [Read more...]

Blueberry Sour Cream Muffins

Blueberry Sour Cream Muffins ~ I have a confession to make, I am totally addicted to making muffins and will very often make them several times a week! I recently had a container of sour cream that was soon due to expire.  So, as any muffinaholic would do, I started wracking my brain for muffin recipes that use sour cream...and blueberries. Blueberries, because I have ten pounds of gorgeous, wild, Pennfield blueberries stored in my freezer. I found this recipe tucked away in my totally … [Read more...]

Update – Blogger to WordPress Move

The debate about which blogging platform is better is ongoing.  It's like asking someone if they prefer Pepsi or Coke.  Each has its own strengths and weaknesses; each has its own followers, and the decision as to which camp you belong, is a personal one. I'm "older" and didn't grow up with a computer, I had initially struggled with and had eventually become very comfortable with Blogger,  I was hesitant to make a change. However,  unless I was going to fork over a lot of money for a … [Read more...]

This is a bit of a challenge!!

I've made the move and I'm now officially blogging on WordPress! Ask me in a month and I will probably give you a different answer, but today, I'm not sure if switching was the right thing for me to do. It may be because I'm "older" and not as computer savvy as many,  but honestly, I'm finding it fairly overwhelming.  I can't even do something as simple as change the font in this post or add a signature without going through some elaborate procedure.  (Which I have not as yet … [Read more...]

Do you prepare a Nativity Tray?

A week from today is Christmas Eve and I want to share with you a relatively new tradition in our home.  I think this Christmas Eve will be our tenth year to prepare a Nativity Tray, which is a medieval English custom. I first read about it in, Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach.  I thought it was such a wonderful thing to do and to me, it epitomizes the spirit of, "good-will toward men".  If you have the Simple Abundance book you can read all about the Nativity Tray on the … [Read more...]
