Spring Cleaning Tips to Get it Done Faster ~ There are people out there who truly look forward to spring cleaning every year. They can’t wait to roll up their sleeves and get down to business. There are others though (the group that I fall into…hahahaha) that dread it and want to get it done and over with as quickly as possible.
If you have managed to keep your home relatively clean all year, you can probably get your spring cleaning completed with minimal effort. No matter what the situation though, there are ways to speed up the process of your spring cleaning.
1. Organize all Your Tools
It is a good idea to invest in a cleaning tote of some kind. This way you can put all your cleaning supplies in one place, ready to use, and easily transport them from room to room. Having your cleaning tools organized is a really great way to save time on your spring cleaning adventures. If you have a large house, it may be beneficial to have additional cleaning totes made up. It is not a bad idea to have one tote per floor, this way you don’t have to keep carrying it back and forth, from floor to floor.
2. Establish a Pattern
Shave time off your cleaning routine by sticking to a cleaning pattern. Start in one room and stick to it until it’s fully cleaned. Move through each room in a methodical way, starting from top to bottom and working your way out. Having a system will stop you from wasting time backtracking.
3. Work from Top to Bottom
It is important to start from the ceiling down. This will force dust and debris downward and keep you from having to re-dust or re-clean your space. Use a long extension hose on your vacuum to get cobwebs and dust from your ceilings and fans. Then dust your furniture and other items before vacuuming all the dust from your floors.
Eliminate anything that could distract you from the task at hand. Put on some music but turn off the TV and put down your phone. Attempting to multitask and pay attention to many things at once will only increase the time spent cleaning.
5. Make it a Team Effort
Spring cleaning can be made a family affair. Young children can even take part and help to complete some of the tasks. More hands mean less time spent to complete your spring cleaning and teamwork does make the dream work after all!
Completing your spring cleaning doesn’t have to be time-consuming. There are so many ways to make sure that you can get it done quickly.
Organizing your tools, establishing a pattern and ensuring that you are focusing on the task at hand will certainly reduce the time you spend doing your spring cleaning. The main tip though would be to make sure that you are not the only one doing the cleaning, if there are other people who live in your household, even kids, they can help you to get it done faster!
