When I was growing up, Bread & Butter Pickles of some variety where a staple in our house. They are a sweet pickle often used to top burgers, a sandwich or just placed beside a mound of creamy mashed potatoes. Lady Ashburnham Pickles
Lady Ashburnham Pickles ~ We haven't made these, or any pickles for that matter, in quite a few years. No reason for the pickle drought, except maybe laziness. Well, this year we turned our kitchen into "Pickle Central" and made dill, sweet Bread and Butter and this delicious, all time favourite of ours and many other Maritimers, Lady Ashburnham. Our first attempt at making dill pickles.
In our house, we are all dill pickle fanatics and have often talked about the possibility of making a batch ourselves. Our son, who lives in Ontario, is home for a couple weeks vacation, he also wants to learn, so we thought it would be a great time to attempt the making of the dill pickles.
