Autumn in Southern New Brunswick, Canada

Although I love the summer and I’m already missing warm summer evenings sitting on the deck, there is just something so absolutely beautiful about the autumn of the year. In my part of the world, Atlantic Canada, we have four VERY distinct seasons. Title:  Wood’s Farm Photo attribution: Catherine White, Oak Lawn Images Just in time for our Canadian Thanksgiving celebrations, the sky takes on this wonderful deep shade of blue and the deciduous trees put on a magnificent display of the … [Read more...]

New River Beach Provincial Park in New Brunswick, Canada

A couple of weeks ago now, as a bit of a final grasp on summer, my sisters and I took a camping trip to New River Beach Provincial Park in New Brunswick. New River Beach is less than an hours drive from my home and I have visited it many, many, many times in the past. I have to say, that even though I have been there numerous times, New River Beach never fails to impress me with its natural beauty and breathtaking ocean views. Early morning fog drifting over the mud flats (low tide) … [Read more...]

If you have never been to the Saltscapes East Coast Expo in Halifax N.S., I strongly urge you to mark it on your calendar for next year! A couple of weekends ago I was in the Halifax, N.S. area and by somewhat of a fluke, found out the Saltscapes East Coast Expo was happening that weekend. I am a long time lover and subscriber to Saltscapes magazine and even though I was aware of the Saltscapes Expo, which just finished its 12th year, I had never been in the area when it was scheduled. So, … [Read more...]

A Visit to the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market

A couple of weekends ago, we decided a little trip was in order and went to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Halifax is about a 3.5-hour drive from where we live. In addition to spending some time relaxing and taking in the Saltscape Expo, which was happening that weekend, we also wanted to visit the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market. Room Tour ~ Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Bedford, N.S. {Part 1 of 2}

I am so lucky to have best friends that are also my sisters. We all live within a twenty-minute drive of each other and we try to get together as often as possible.  Sometimes it's just for coffee and a chat but at least a couple of times a year we like to take a little "girl's trip". Often it's just a day trip, maybe to a nearby beach or national park. Occasionally, we'll go on a week-long "girls" camping trip. Sometimes we'll rent a cottage. From time to time we'll also head out on a little … [Read more...]

7 Steps To Avoid The Zika Virus

Quaint, uncrowded seaside villages. Tranquil azure seas lapping softly on a white sand beach. Palms gently swaying in the breeze. These are the images many see when planning a mid-winter escape from the icy wrath of a northern winter. This is the life my brother leads, and has, for the past five or six years. Every Fall he packs his bags and heads for destinations “warm”. This Winter it’s Panama. Oh, he comes back every Summer, but we joke that he hasn’t seen a snowflake in so long, … [Read more...]

The Twisted Sisters at the Captain’s Lookout Cottages

A few weeks ago my sisters and I went on a little girls getaway.  We only had a couple of days, so didn't want to venture too far. We decided on a staycation in our home province of New Brunswick, where we would explore, or re-explore in some cases, the beautiful Fundy coastline. We based our stay out of one of the cutest little cottages, Captain's Lookout Cottages, located in New Horton, N.B. (sounds like it could be in a Dr. Seuss book doesn't it...lol). We picked this cottage, not only for … [Read more...]

My sisters and I recently went on a little weekend getaway.  Our last trip together had been this past July, when we went on our annual camping adventure to New River Beach Provincial Park . And...we were feeling the need for some more sisters time! We rented a little cottage in New Horton, New Brunswick, packed our coolers and suitcases and were on our way.  We only had a couple of days together so did not want to travel far, so we decided to explore the Fundy coast.  Cape Enrage is about … [Read more...]
