A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel to Fredericton, N.B. with my daughter. She was there on a course and invited me to come along – well, we all know I was not going to refuse that offer. Just ask my kids, I’m always pounding it in to them; my motto is:
“If you have the choice to sit it out or dance, you should always dance.”
So, I threw a few things into a suitcase, kissed my husband and kitties bye and with a promise of a stop at our local Java Moose for a moose size Coca-Mocha-Nut coffee, danced my way to her car!
Even though Fredericton is less than two hours from my home, I was very excited to be heading out on our mini road trip!
My daughter wanted to stay downtown, as that is where her course was being held, so she booked us into the The Crowne Plaza Beaverbrook. The Beaverbrook is a charming riverside hotel in the heart of the city – and just steps from local cultural attractions. The historic hotel has long been known for its unbeatable location, comfortable rooms, top-notch meeting and event services, and inspired dining experiences.
This is the view from our room, that flat, white expanse is of the frozen Saint John River. The photo doesn’t do it justice, it looked spectacular in the bright spring sunshine. No, that wasn’t a misprint – even though the river was a solid sheet of ice, it was indeed “technically” spring!
Our’s was a corner room with three large windows that allowed the afternoon sun to stream in. The beds were super comfy I felt I was sleeping on a cloud.
This is a view from the far corner of the room. While the room didn’t contain a bar fridge or wine glasses, we requested those when we checked in and they were in our room by the time we arrived. (Fridge is next to the desk) After all, a girls mini trip always requires a glass or two of wine!
A nice little reading nook or a spot to sip a glass of wine or enjoy a cup of coffee. While my daughter was at her course, I spend the morning happily munching on a muffin and drinking pretty well the entire pot of coffee she had ordered up from room service.
The bathroom was not huge but was certainly adequate and very clean. Sorry about the post shower picture, I never even noticed until I was back home – obviously taken before I drank an entire pot of coffee!
I thought the room was great, all the staff were super nice and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay. For dinner we went to an awesome little restaurant, located only a few steps from the hotel. It is called Issac’s Way and was recommended by a friend. If you ever stay at the Beaverbrook you need to eat there, it has a great atmosphere and the food is spectacular.
Before going to sleep that night we gave ourselves a mini late night facial with the special creams and lotions that were on the bed for our use. Ahhhh….sweet dreams.
