I recently went on a fun little road trip to Halifax with my sisters. In an earlier post, Room Tour ~ Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Bedford, N.S. {Part 1 of 2}, I gave you details of our room, as well as, a brief overview of the hotel
Today, I thought it would be fun to share with you a video I took of our room and to also go into a little more detail on the amenities offered by the hotel.
Hotel Amenities:
Internet –
- Standard Internet service is free for all guests
- Wireless Internet available in Standard Rooms, Executive Rooms, Suites, Business Center, Public Areas
- Wired Internet available in Standard Rooms, Executive Rooms, Suites, Business Center, Public Areas
Business Services –
- Business Center

- Courier Service
- E-mail & Internet
- Facsimile
- PC available
- Printer
- Unstaffed Business Center
- Wireless Data Connection
On-site Health and Fitness Center –
Complete your workout using the elliptical, treadmill, stationary bike or flex your muscles using the multi person universal gym.
The gym was immaculate, there were lots of towels available, the equipment was top-notch and upgraded in 2016. There were strategically placed flat screen televisions and the room was bright and airy with lots of natural light.
Housekeeping and Laundry Services –
- On-site Guest Self-Laundry Facilities (washer/dryer) with hours of operation from 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Daily Housekeeping
- Dry Cleaning Pickup/Laundry
- Same Day Dry Cleaning
Entertainment and Recreation –
- Indoor Pool and Spa Tub
There is a beautiful pool with a fun water slide for the young and young at heart! After doing a few laps in the pool you can relax in the spa tub. Again, this area was very clean and there were plenty of fluffy towels available.
But, what I really liked was, even though the hotel was booked to capacity, the pool area wasn’t packed, so there was lots of room for swimming laps, enjoying the slide or relaxing in the spa tub.
Miscellaneous –
- ATM/Cash Machine
- Ice Machine
- Market
- Newspaper
The Market which is located just off the lobby has everything from a deck of cards to a microwaveable dinner and ice cream to dryer sheets
Breakfast Bar –
I have saved the best for last! One of my favourite features of this hotel is the Breakfast Bar. How I wish this was available when our kids were younger and we spent many, many weekends travelling the Maritimes for hockey, baseball, and basketball.
We would spend a small fortune feeding our kids and ourselves. Having a breakfast bar like this included in our hotel stay would have been not only economical but also very convenient. I don’t think anyone wants to gather the family together at 7AM and set out in the car in search of breakfast.
The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites offers all guests a complimentary breakfast bar served daily from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and until 10:00 AM on the weekends
The roomy and comfortable breakfast area is located on the main level of the hotel next to the front desk – read a complimentary newspaper, watch television, check email on your laptop or just enjoy breakfast with your family, friends or co-workers.
There was ample seating available but this was “our table”…lol
Some of the breakfast items available when we visited were:
- Warm Holiday Inn Express Signature Cinnamon Rolls (I had one of these each morning…YUM!)
- Assorted breads, bagels and English muffins with assorted toppings
- Eggs (Scrambled and boiled) , sausage patties, bacon
- Pancakes, freshly made and piping hot from a cute little pancake machine. (Put down your plate, press a button and out pops two perfectly cooked pancakes)
- Muffins
- Oatmeal
- Assorted dry cereals
- Assorted fresh fruit
- Yogurt
- Milk
- Coffee
- Juice
There was a good selection of hot and cold cereals, as well as, fruit.
Milk, boiled eggs and a selection of regular and Greek style yogurt.
Warm cinnamon rolls and to the left is the pancake machine. Just press a button and in a couple of minutes, out pops two hot pancakes.
Trust me, there is no need to worry about breakfast, there is definitely something to please everyone in the family.
From amenities including indoor pools, fitness and business centers to the complimentary breakfast bar this hotel delivers a special kind of hospitality that makes you feel at home!

I love the clean lines and modern style depicted in your video. Although the gym looked inviting, the pool just screamed my name as did the hot tub, so who am I to argue with a pool??lol.
Another thing that I look for when picking a place to stay is a room with lots of pillows…..AND… a delightful breakfast bar. This place seems to have it all….have already entered it in my “where to stay” on my cell. Thanks for the personalized info!
Monica Parlee says
Pat, when a pool is screaming your name, you can’t possibility ignore it. That would be so wrong! It really did have it all and we had a wonderful stay.

Love when Hotels have a place to pick up some late night snacks :)
And that pool and slide look like lots of fun for families.
Monica Parlee says
Agree, a place to pick up some midnight snacks is a must and the slide and pool are a great way to tire out the kiddos before bed!

I am so overdue for a visit out East. I have never been! I look forward to visiting one day soon and will keep this hotel on my list of spots to stay. I agree that the pool looks inviting and the spa tub even more so.
Monica says
Paula, I think you would love the Maritimes! Although I may be a tad biased, the scenery is unrivaled and the people are super friendly.
Amanda says
I love that they have a Fitness Centre and you don’t see microwaves very often in hotel rooms.
Monica Parlee says
I liked those perks too Amanda!

Thanks for sharing your experience at The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Bedford, NS! It looks like a family can relax themselves while vacationing there. My family is planning on visiting relatives in NS, so we may be looking to stay there while in the area. I loved seeing the shelf by the door and the bathroom in your suite. It looks great. Thanks for suggesting this spot!
Monica says
You are very welcome Lian. The pool and slide would keep little ones entertained for hours and you can’t beast the great breakfast that is included. I like that little shelf too…perfect for putting your room key!

It is always great to hear and see first hand someone’s experience at a hotel and this one was great. It gives me peace of mind to see things “live” and removes the doubt.
