Any gift a mom receives from their child is always special and dear to their heart, but, would you like to do something really unique for your mom (or wife) this Mother’s Day?Something a little different from gardening tools, flowers or a book? Something she will remember fondly for years to come?
I have the perfect gift idea and it is not expensive at all. A couple of years ago I had “high tea” at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC and it was an experience I will never forget! You may not be able to visit the Empress this week-end, but you can still treat your mom (or wife) like a queen for the day and serve her “high tea” on Mother’s Day! Show her your love and appreciation for all she does by giving her a relaxing day and treating her to the unforgettable “high tea” experience.
“A traditional high tea should consist of a lovely variety of fragrant teas and fancy finger sandwiches, fruit, scones, jam, clotted cream, cakes and petit fours,” says Chef Tom, executive chef President’s Choice Cooking Schools, Loblaw Companies Limited.

Presentation is everything when it comes to “high tea”. Food is usually arranged in the order in which it’s enjoyed on tiered trays, with scones at the top, then sandwiches and pastries at the bottom. To make the afternoon extra special be sure to set the table with elegant or fine antique china. However, you can make it as fancy or as simple as you like, remember, it is the thought that counts!
There is no need to spend hours baking, PC® black label foods have everything you need to make the “high tea” experience a true food adventure. They are available in Atlantic Canada at the exclusively at Loblaw banner grocery stores, such as Atlantic Superstore and Dominion in Newfoundland.

Oh that sounds simply delightful!!! This Mother’s Day, we’ll be spending with our first granddaughter and her family as she makes her First Holy Communion. But maybe I’ll get together with the daughters, another year for that wonderful sounding ‘high tea’.

That is a pretty special way to spend Mother’s Day, have fun and take lots of pics of little Brooke!
I never did make the time to do high tea at the Empress, in all the times I went to Victoria. All the info said that there was a dress code and since I was only in town overnight, I didn’t want to pack those extra clothes. I’ve no idea what we are doing for Mothers Day, probably going out to eat or something.
I was there on a conference JoJo, so while not totally dressy, I had on “business attire”. Next time you are there, it really is an event not to be missed!
What a sweet idea! :)
It really is something fun and special! Hope you have a fabulous Mother’s Day Jennifer!
What a fun idea! Hoping someone clues your daughter in and you all get to enjoy tea time! My boys aren’t much into this but I’m hoping in the coming years I can enjoy moments like this with my daughter! Happy Mother’s Day!!!
I hope someone clues her in too, {I’m thinking they may have :)} It is so much fun to share special events with our children. Michelle, your daughter will be doing this for you before you can hardly blink, time certainly flies! I hope you have a great Mother’s Day Michelle!
