With Father’s Day rapidly approaching it is time to start thinking about those important men in our lives! They do so much to make our lives as great as possible and often receive little credit for their “behind the scenes” work.
Dad or husband, they deserve to know we love and appreciate all they do, so let’s give them a special and relaxing day, spent with the people they love, doing what makes them happy.
I remember when our kids were little how excited they would be to bring home from school a Father’s Day gift they had made themselves. One year it was a “Dad and Me book; another year a yarn covered jar to hold pencils and pens; there was also a paper clip holder, fashioned from a recycled baby food jar, covered in masking tape and painted brown to look like “leather”. {It still proudly sits on dad’s desk!}
{Now a little old and faded, but still priceless}
The kids are older now, there will be no crafting of priceless treasures, however, there will still be priceless memories to be made as we celebrate dad on his special day!
My husbands idea of a perfect Father’s Day is getting up early when the house is still and quiet. He will happily spend a leisurely few hours reading ever single word in the newspaper and completing every crossword puzzle, while drinking copious amounts of coffee; all followed by a mid-morning breakfast. So, of course, that is exactly what he will be having for Father’s Day this year!
The kids and I are making a delicious Father’s Day breakfast consisting of:
Mixed Fruit Salad
Orange Juice
Copious Amounts of Coffee
Check out my Google + album for more insight on how we are making this Father’s Day deliciously special!
What are your plans for Father’s Day?
Do you make an awesome meal for your dad or the man in your life?
How do you involve the kids in the celebration?
I don’t have any children so Fathers Day was never observed by my ex & me.
My guy will probably be on the road that day. This will be the first Fathers Day that all 3 of his kids are speaking to him, since he & I have been together (2 years). I am hoping they will at least text him Happy Fathers Day. I made him an altered book w/ pics of him with them when they were little, and a pics of him with each one that I took this year. I am planning to slip it in his computer bag before he leaves so that he finds it when he’s on the road. It’ll be on my blog on 6/18.
Awhhh what a sweet thing to do JoJo, I’m sure he will love it and treasure not only the book but the loving though behind it!
We always have a nice family dinner together; this year it will be chicken parmesan!
We love Chicken Parmesan, always my husbands request for his birthday dinner!
I’m hoping my hubby is not on the road and we can have a nice family dinner and perhaps spend the day in the outdoors!
I hope he is too; I know how you are feeling Myrah, my husband used to travel a lot for work and we all missed him a lot.
My 7 year old has already made her gifts for Dad and since we’ll be in San Antonio this year, Dad won’t get a home cooked meal with all his favorites but we will make it up once we get home!
I love when the little ones make their own gifts, they are always so sweet! Enjoy your time in San Antonio, Marina.
What a special way to celebrate! My hubby does not like casseroles but I bet he’d love coffee and a bagel!
Yum…bagels, Kristen, I think I’m going to go have one right now!
Thats cute, hope he has a great fathers day!
Thanks Tammi, he will be spoiled rotten!
Love the breakfast casserole! My husband does Father’s Day golf tournaments all weekend and we have a dinner afterwards. And I will be doing a cute little craft with the kids this week for him as well.
sounds like fun Samantha, I miss the time when the kids loved doing cute crafts!
That breakfast bake looks delicious! I love the “leather” paper clip holder. Looks like something my 7 year old would make for Dad :-D
Aw, that looks yummy and so sweet! Happy Father’s Day to your hubby!
Thanks Jeanette, I pass your wishes along!
We made crafts for Daddy the other day while he was away on a business trip. I’m not sure what else we will be doing, but I’m sure breakfast will be included. :)
Looks great! We don’t have any special plans for Father’s Day, we will probably go fishing.
I’ve had breakfast casseroles before but that breakfast bake sounds DIVINE!
Thanks Cyn, it really is delicious ! My favourite part is the mess and preparation is all done the night before and in the morning you just pop it in the oven and enjoy!
